Hayabusa

The Japanese spacecraft Hayabusa is the second LEGO® CUUSOO release, available in Japan and on shop.LEGO.com in 2012. Hayabusa (“falcon” in English) is an unmanned spacecraft built by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), designed to travel to a small near-Earth asteroid named Itokawa and return sample material to Earth.
1978: LEGO Mini figure is introduced

In 1978 the LEGO mini figures with movable arms and legs is introduced. By 2011 more than 4 billion mini figures had been made.
1968: LEGOLAND® Billund opens

In 1968 LEGOLAND® Billund opens its gates on 7th June and attracts 625,000 visitors in its first season, 3000 on the opening day. In 2005 the LEGO Group sells the LEGOLAND parks to Merlin Entertainments. KIRKBI A/S - who owns 75% of the LEGO Group - also owns approximately 36 % of the shares in Merlin Entertainments Group.

1969: LEGO DUPLO

In 1969 the DUPLO series for under-fives is launched internationally.
LEGO Brick patent

The original patent application for the LEGO Brick in 1958. The LEGO Brick introduced a new coupling system enabled stable construction play while still being easy to disassemble - the clutch-power.
Automatic Binding Brick - from 1949

The first building brick from the LEGO Group was the Automatic Binding Brick from 1949.
The LEGO Group motto

The LEGO Group motto: "Det bedste er ikke for godt" in Danish or "Only the best is good enough" in English. The motto dates back to 1932 and is still a core LEGO value.
LEGO Mursten - product

In 1953 the Automatic Binding Bricks get a new name: "LEGO Mursten" ("LEGO Bricks"). The name "LEGO" is printed inside all bricks.

Plastic granulate

Plastic granulate (ABS) is the raw material most commonly used to produce LEGO elements. The plastic is heated to an average of 250 degrees Celsius before before being injected into the moulds that produce the finished element.
High bay warehouse

The high bay warehouse in Billund, Denmark. There is room for 424.000 production-boxes on the shelves - with the capacity to hold 1,8 billion eight-studded LEGO bricks.
