Australian children celebrate christening of Danish prince
Eager young Aussies grabbed huge LEGO® SOFT bricks on Friday morning at Circular Quay in Sydney to build the new Danish prince his very own LEGO throne.
The event was part of christening celebrations in Australia, organised by the Trade Commission of Denmark. LEGO Education staged a contest for creative youngsters to design and build a throne using big LEGO SOFT bricks!
Marking the christening of Crown Prince Frederick and Princess Mary’s first son, which takes place in Copenhagen on Saturday, the event brought fun and celebration to the streets of Sydney as well as helping to raise the profile of Denmark and Danish companies in Australia.
Libby Moore, who runs the LEGO Education Center in Melbourne and sells LEGO Education solutions to schools throughout Australia, helped to stage the event. She says that the children loved the idea of building a throne for a small prince!
Here’s what they had to do in order to win a LEGO prize:
• Build a throne that the Prince can actually sit on
• Add armrests and a place where the Prince can put a drink or his own special play things
• Make sure the throne is safe and stable – test it
• The Prince may have to sit down for a long time; you need to make it comfortable. Show in what ways you have ensured his comfort.
