Three new members are expected to join the Board of Directors of LEGO A/S, the parent company of the LEGO Group, at its annual general meeting in April.

Two of the new directors are: Niels Jacobsen, CEO of William Demant Holding A/S and Oticon A/S, and Caroline Søeborg Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille, CEO of CSO Holding.

They replace Mads Øvlisen, chairman, and Gunnar Brock, both of whom are retiring from the board at their own request and handing over the succession of the company after seeing it safely through its turnaround.

The third new member of the board of LEGO A/S is expected to be the new CEO of LEGO Holding A/S, which will later change its name to KIRKBI A/S. Poul Hartvig Nielsen is currently acting CEO.

The other members of the board – Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen (deputy chairman), Torben Ballegaard Sørensen, Kåre Schultz and Thomas Kirk Kristiansen – continue in their posts.

The new chairman is expected to be Niels Jacobsen.

Niels Jacobsen (50) holds an M.Sc. degree in economics from the University of Århus, and he was previously CEO of Aktieselskabet Orion. He joined William Demant Holding in 1992 as executive vice president and was appointed CEO in 1998.
Niels Jacobsen is a director of A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S, Novo Nordisk A/S and Thomas B. Thriges Fond. In addition, he is a director of several companies in the William Demant Group, a member of the Central Board of the Confederation of Danish Industries, and a member of the Board of the Copenhagen Industries Employers’ Federation.

Caroline Søeborg Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille (39) graduated in information and media sciences and holds an MBA from the Copenhagen Business School. Caroline Søeborg Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille set up MouseHouse in 1992, and was its CEO until 2002. She later became CEO and chairwoman of the board at OEO Aps, and is currently CEO of CSO Holding.
Caroline Søeborg Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille is chairwoman of Resultmaker A/S and 2BM A/S and deputy chairwoman of Odense Theatre. She is also a director of a number of other companies, including NOIR Illuminati II A/S, DYRBERG/KERN and COOP A/S.

Mads Øvlisen has been a member of the LEGO Group board since 1991 and its chairman since 1996. In addition to retiring as a director of LEGO A/S, he is withdrawing from a number of other LEGO boards.
Gunnar Brock has been a member of the LEGO Group board since 1995.

Deputy Chairman Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen says:
“I am very grateful to Mads Øvlisen for continuing as chairman of the board and supporting Corporate Management in our difficult years. Mads has done a magnificent job – for which I thank him sincerely. Gunnar Brock, too, has earned our gratitude for his many years’ work as a member of the board. I wish them both the very best of luck and good fortune in their future activities.”
