It is in our nature in the LEGO Group to leave a positive impact on our surroundings. We are in the business of play and inventing the future of play. Children are our role models. They reinvent the world and themselves in it over and over again, surprising themselves and others in what they can create and do. We want to leave them a future which will enable them to achieve their full human potential and possibilities.
Since 2003 we have been working consciously and deliberately with sustainability, signing up to the UN Global Compact and striving to address these ten principles.
In 2006 we issued our first sustainability report and have since tracked our progress every year. Read our annual progress reports

Four promises to our stakeholders
Our efforts in the area of sustainability are a direct derivative of the way we run our business; ‘The LEGO way’, where only the best is good enough. In 2009 we constituted four main promises to our stakeholders. They set the direction for everything we do.
Play Promise: Joy of building, Pride of creation
We want children to experience joy and pride when exploring their creative potential with our products and services. We want parents to be certain that the playful learning, which we are striving for their children to experience, will develop the kind of skills and confidence that will prepare their children for the future.
People Promise: Succeed together
We want every employee to experience the strong sense of purpose, spirit and collaboration, creative adventure and execution excellence which characterises the LEGO Group at our very best.
Partner Promise: Mutual value creation
We want to ensure that working with the LEGO Group is a rewarding experience for every person and organisation that we seek to partner with, whether they are customers, business partners, or suppliers.
Planet promise: Positive impact
We want to leave a positive impact in whatever we deal with – be it in respect to our stakeholders or to the wider community. We are committed to caring for the society that our children will inherit and to inspiring and enabling children to have a voice in the society of tomorrow.
Under Planet Promise we have defined five overall targets to help us set our direction.
