The LEGO Group made a public commitment to ensure respect for human rights, labor rights, the environment and anti-corruption when we signed the United Nations Global Compact in 2003.
In the LEGO Group, we take this commitment seriously and work continuously to embed respect for human rights in our operations. By doing this we aim to stay loyal to the values of our company, as well as meet the expectations of society to conduct responsible business in relation to the people affected by our operations and decisions.
We impact a broad range of human rights throughout our value chain. Systematically understanding our human rights impact, is the starting point for determining those areas where we have the most impact and where we want to focus our efforts. While this is an ongoing process, we have defined certain areas, such as children’s right to grow and the rights of employees to a safe and healthy working environment. The Rights of Children
In our human rights efforts, we place special focus on the rights of children.
We support the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and we do our outmost to ensure that we respect and promote children’s rights throughout our operations and in dialogue with stakeholders. We also support the Children’s Rights & Business Principles, developed by the United Nations Global Compact, UNICEF and Save the Children, which specifically outline the responsibilities that businesses have in regard to children’s rights respectful collaboration.
A key element in our efforts, is how we develop products that are safe both online and offline. We know this is important as children spend more time playing online and as a consequence, our commitment to support children’s rights to protection and safety extend into the online world. Our own marketing standard standard specifies our standpoint on children’s privacy and data protection, interaction on social platforms and how we market our products.
